Adani ports aimed to establish a large-scale tank farm in Hazira, dedicated to managing liquid cargo. In their quest for a capable partner, they sought expertise in comprehensive electrification and intelligent drive control system implementation.
The challenge was connecting variable frequency drives to motors situated approximately 1200 meters away from the drive panels. Overcoming this challenge required careful planning and execution to ensure seamless and efficient communication between the drives and the motors.
Harmonic mitigation emerged as a significant customer requirement.

Project Handling
- Siemens Simocode PRO V motor protection relays were chosen for their advanced intelligence and cutting-edge features.
- To tackle the challenge of harmonics, we chose to deploy ABB's specialized low harmonic variable frequency drives.
- Due to the considerable distance of 1200 meters between the motor and drives, Velox took the initiative to procure custom Sine wave filters from a Swiss manufacturer.
- Complete electrical motor controls were on Profibus DP
- The energy management system was on Modbus RTU.
- The customer expressed a specific need for harmonic mitigation within the system.
